                                                 Teacher Assets

Successful Training - can be LLCM,  RCM, College, University or any
combination thereof - tells you that they have subjected themselves to
technical critique from more advanced/knowledgeable recognized educators

Experience - teaching and performing - they don't have to occur at the same time -
for example a teacher may be involved in professional development that
may draw them away from the performing world at times or vice versa.

References - gives an impression of overall competence in the skill of teaching and
rapport with students - the references should be strong

Professional Development - improving on your instrument is a lifelong process -
Does Your teacher do daily practice? Does he/she study with another more
advanced instructor also? Any courses taken recently or presently?

Cost and Proximity - cost and travel time are always a factor but should not
      overrule teacher quality

Transcribing Skills - a good teacher must have the ability to write out and teach a
student's favorite music if sheet music or tabs aren't available

Teacher Personality - basically your first impression of a potential teacher preferably
combined with information gathered through word of mouth and/or reference
checking ie: likeable, humorous, friendly, fun, caring, serious/professional
